Mother Nature cancels Sunday Open practice day at Walton Raceway

Walton Raceway is officially closed for 2010 ! Mother Nature sent a 45 mm deep hint earlier in the week and when we persisted in prepping for this Sunday she followed up with sustained showers for the last 6 hours. So I am taking the hint and calling it a season.

Thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm and patronage. With club races, ATVs, Truck mud bogs, CMRC regional MX and of course the TransCan we estimate 2010 attendance at over 50,000 day visits in total - a record attendance and making Walton Raceway one of (if not THE ) the most popular destinations in Huron County!!

The staff are hard at work already planning for 2011 so don't hesitate to drop a line with suggestions for things you would like to see next year and look for some exciting announcements in the coming months.

Canadian Arenacross Champions 2010/2011- a NEW DIRECTION

After two decades of staging the Canadian Arenacross Championship the Hellam family namely Jamie and dad John, respective owners and operators of both Nex Trax Entertainment & Future West Promotions have been hard at work re jigging this year's Canadian Arenacross Championships.

For the past decade Chilliwack's Heritage Park has been the host venue for the majority of the rounds and will remain the annual site for the first two weekends of the series in November. After the success of last year's expansion of the series to Penticton for the final rounds of Canadian Arenacross Championships promoted by RGibbs Promotions it was decided by John and Jamie to further expand the series in 2010/11 to new venues and a wider range of spectators in more communities utilizing hockey and concert style venues, something Future West has done successfully for the past 14 years in the UK with the British Supercross Championship.

The first new venue will be the Canada Games Arena in Grande Prairie Alberta provisionally scheduled for the weekend of December 18th and 19th title sponsored by Wesco Testing and Wireline Inc. and West Range Oilfield Hauling Ltd. The second new venue will be the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre home of the AHL Abbotsford Heat and will run on the weekend of January 22. The Abbotsford event will be held on the same weekend as the annual Vancouver International Motorcycle Show which is held at the Abbotsford Tradex Exhibition facility just a short distance from the Entertainment and Sports Centre. Penticton is back on the schedule for this year's series on the weekend of February 25th and 26th.

Because of the travel distance to Grand Prairie there will be two championships to be decided this year. The existing Canadian Arenacross Championship will consist of all rounds of the series at all venues including Grande Prairie. The West Coast Arenacross Championship will consist of Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Penticton.

Nex Trax' Jamie Hellam had this to say, "Chilliwack Heritage Park is a very unique venue and will continue to be the home of the Canadian Arenacross Championship. After much deliberation we felt the time was right to expand the series to premiere venues across the West Coast. It's only fair that we bring the series to the faithful competitors that come from the Interior and Alberta along with the help of my dad John and his vast knowledge of dealing with and organizing events in these type of venues we are excited to be moving in this new direction." John Hellam added "It's good to be expanding into new areas and taking the sport to new audiences. We have a lot of experience in these type of venues and are more than ready for this challenge.

Kyle Keast, Jeremy Medaglia, and Kaven Benoit did Canada proud at the Motocross of Nations in Thunder Valley, Colorado this past weekend, finishing 16th overall out of 31 countries entered.

While a 16th place finish may not look all too impressive on paper to the casual motocross fan, it was nonetheless a major accomplishment for Team Canada. In fact, just reaching the A main at a world motocross showdown like the MXoN is a feat in itself.

UPDATE: Huron County Economic Development Strategy and Survey

Dear Huron County Industry/Business Organizations and Municipalities:

The development of the new Huron County Economic Development Opportunities Blueprint (EDOB) is progressing well and is on schedule. Final drafts of the Strategy and Action Plan are anticipated to be completed by November/December 2010, with final approval in early 2011.

This strategy is being developed in close partnership with the Huron Business Development Corporation, as well as with considerable input from industry and municipal partners. Phase 2 industry consultations/workshops began in May and continued into June and July with organizations such as the Huron Manufacturing Association, Huron County Federation of Agriculture, Huron Tourism Association, Huron Business Leaders Network, etc. Meetings will all nine municipalities also occurred as part of this consultative process to ensure that local municipal opportunities and needs are addressed within the new Strategy and Action Plan.

In addition to special industry workshops, an on-line business survey was launched in July and targeted at County businesses through various business organizations and sector groups. Telephone interviews were also conducted in July and August with key business and public sector contacts. The last industry workshop occurred on September 15th with the Huron Business Leaders Network.

The on-line survey has been well received, with over 120 detailed responses to date. The EDOB Action Team are closing this survey on October 1st. If you and/or any of your members or contacts have not yet filled out this brief survey, we would encourage you do do so in the next week.

Eastern Canadian Enduro Championship & Overall Canadian Enduro Championship wrapup

The second season of the Royal Distributing Canadian Enduro Championship prestented by Parts Canada is in the books. Riders, organizers, and the media all agree it was another successful season. This year there were over 30 pro and amateur riders who contested all 8 rounds with 9 provinces represented (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick).

On Sunday World Enduro Canada awarded the Inside MotoX & Offroad Magazine Eastern Canadian Enduro Championships as well the overall Canadian Enduro Championships. Honda's Jason Schrage took home the #1 Pro plate, and the Kymco scooter that went with it. Congratulations to all the riders who competed this year and to all of our Champions.

What a beautiful summer it has been. The weather was great this year for the filming of the Canadian Motocross Races. Rob Hill travelled from British Columbia all the way to Moncton New Brunswick in 9 weeks with our MOBILE bus for the 10^th year in a row filming the National Motocross Races.

TEAM EAST WINS 2010 PARTS CANADA CUP CANADIAN AMATEUR MOTOCROSS EAST VS WEST SHOOTOUT

LONDON, ONT (September 3, 2010) – Since 1992, The Parts Canada TransCan at Walton Raceway has showcased the talents of Canada’s top amateur motocross racers, as they compete for Canadian Motocross Grand National Championships. A major feature that was incorporated 5 years ago into the weeklong TransCan event was the Parts Canada Cup Canadian Amateur Motocross East vs. West Shootout.

The Parts Canada Cup Canadian Amateur Motocross East vs. West Shootout provides the battle grounds as youth and amateur racers from the East Coast and West Coast get a chance to race head to head. The intention of the Parts Canada Cup is to find out which coast produces the fastest young riders, so their respective team managers decide over the course of the week which amateur and youth riders will wear the blue (west) or red (east) Parts Canada Cup bibs on the track in between Pro races on Sunday.

This year Team East won the Parts Canada Cup by finishing 32 point in front of Team West. The 2010 runner-up Western team manager was Gisele DeKoninck of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Gisele worked with amateur racer team captions, Jess Petits and Cole DeKoninck to field their team of 40 racers. Team East was led by Eastern team manager Barry Hetherington of Port Perry, Ontario, who worked with amateur racer team captions, Cody Richmond and Bradley Dool.

"We (Parts Canada) are thrilled to have been involved (for the first time) with the Canada Cup at the Parts Canada TransCan Walton weekend. It is such a fantastic exhibition of our Canadian talent and it really offers us a preview of who to watch for in years to come. But beyond seeing our future of motocross it is a fabulous way to bring our riders together within our race community. We are very proud of this event and of the managers and racers who participated in it."

Auburn Hills motocross Cancelled for Sunday Sept 5

As of 9pm the track has received enough rain in the last couple of hours as to be impassable. The forecast is for continued rain through the night and early morning.

With great regret we are calling the event rather than have folks wasting gas to get here -- please pass the word on to friends ASAP.

Next CMRC event for South Western Ontario region is the Vet National at Walton Raceway next Saturday Sept 11 followed on Sunday by the opening round of the Fox Fall Hi Point series on Sept 12.

Get involved by hosting your own local celebration event anytime during the week leading up to, and including, September 18. Join thousands of organizations across Canada and plan a party, open house, game, competition, meet-and-greet, try-it day, tournament, fun run, spectator event or pep rally. Create something new, or throw open your doors to a competition, activity or event your organization is already doing—and invite other Canadians to join you:

Think of a sport-related event or activity that your organization, club, team or school is already doing, or could do, between September 11 and 18, 2010. If the event is already open to the public, great—all you have to do is register it on the site. If not, decide how you could open it up to the public—hold an open house, offer a free ‘try-it day,’ hold an athlete meet-and-greet before a competition, stage a community softball game, invite people to view a team practice or invite your local mayor to host a demonstration event of your sport. Use your imagination.
Post the details of your local event (contacts, description, photo etc.) on the Sports Day in Canada website atwww.cbcsports.ca/sportsday as soon as possible.
Promote your event to the public. DADDY RATTRAY RACES TO MEMORABLE VICTORY

Ever since Tyla Rattray properly had his memory, motocross pretty much dominated his life. Scarcely a weekend went by that was not consumed by his passion, fighting mud, grime, dust, ruts, snow, rain, recalcitrant bikes and the opposition in his quest for ever more lofty achievements. Precious little was allowed to interfere, since Tyla, as all who know him well will testify, is single minded to the umpteenth degree.

There have been many memorable moments along the way. Some soul-destroying setbacks. A Grand Prix victory here and there. A world title. Some race successes in the USA. An ample supply of candidates for most memorable race day, therefore. Yet we would hazard a guess that the events of 28 August 2010 are by now more or less indelibly engraved in the lobe of Tyla Rattray's brain catering for most memorable race days ,,,

It all started some hours before the South African set foot on Southwick race park. At round 4 am Tyla's first born, Brooke Kayla Rattray, scored the day's first holeshot as she made her presence known. The little one was very considerate. Not only did she time the arrival for early morning so that mom Sam would not be kept from her household chores for too long, but she waited until the calendar clicked over to the 28th and her birth date could reflect dad's racing number.

Tyla was of course not unaware of the impending arrival of the bundle of joy, and thus his day started early. There was still a full day of racing to wade through, however, as the tenth round of the AMA motocross championships would not move dates to accommodate his domestic circumstances. Southwick is a sandy track, and this would favour the former world champion. During his Grand Prix years he earned a rock solid reputation as a dancer on sand tracks. Although Southwick is not quite a deep sand monster such as one might encounter at, say, Lommel or Lierop en Europe, it still offers enough of a challenge to separate the (sand) men from the boys. Apart from his skills on the sand, Tyla is also a machine as far as endurance under these conditions is concerned. Many a rival has found this out the hard way. Where others flag, he peaks. Where others wallow, he dances. He is as relentless as a hon ey badger hunting for beehives, and equally as tough.

Anyhow, for for fear of digressing too much, we shall return to the telling of our tale. So it came to pass, then, that the strawberry fresh daddy strode out on the track for his work day. There was a new gleam in his eye, a spring in his step and even more determination in his mind, if such a thing were possible. He disposed of the qualification formalities with some measure of success, posting the second fastest time, wi ht only teammate and series leader Christophe Pourcel trumping him buy a mere 3/10th 's of a second on the qualifying scoreboard.

Despite his good gate pick , Tyla had a less than ideal launch in race one and joined the proceedings in eighth spot. He quickly made up a few positions, and by half race distance he was nicely placed in third position. The leading pair had by now created quite a bit of distance, but the aforesaid endurance now came to the fore and Tyla continues his relentless chase. Will Hahn was the next to fall before his expertly wielded Pro Circuit powered sword, and now it was only Trey Canard heading him. Race commentator Jeff Emig was running out of superlatives as he described Tyla's upmarch, and where the gap at one stage seemed unbridgeable, it was visibly shrinking with the end of the race approaching. Tyla was at this stage comfortably posting the fastest lap times of the race, and before long, Canard could feel his minty fresh breath in his neck. They went at it hammer at tongs, but ultimatel y, Canard prevailed, with Tyla crossing the line 0.411 seconds behind.

It is a truism in motocross that he who finishes second in the first heat has all the power to influence his overall result for the day. A win in the second race would always rake the overall victory in. Tyla was mindful of this as he went to the line, but again his start was not optimal, although better than in the first race. Again he surged forward and there is perhaps no better indication of his frame of mind than the ease with which he dispatched runaway series leader Christophe Pourcel to move into second place. Again a lone Honda now led him, this time piloted by Justin Barcia. Tyla's growing popularity in the USA was glaringly evident by the fact that large portions of the US crowd were urging him on as he closed up on an American rider. Again he moved close enough to go into the clinch, but an error cost him some time and caused him to lose the tow. He finished second again, 3 secon ds adrift, but his pair of deuces were good enough to hoist him to the top of the overall podium.

The crowd roared its approval as Tyla was called to the top. The joy of fatherhood and the glow of a race day victory sat well on his shoulders. Added to this, his efforts were enough to hoist him back up to third in the championship standings. Although he is some points behind series leader Pourcel, the last shots in the championship have by no means been fired yet, and there is still a possibility that he could vie for championship honours on his Monster Energy-backed machine.

It was only his handily-placed ears that prevented Tyla's smile from going all around his head at the post race interview. "After the prize giving, I'm heading straight for the airport to take the earliest possible flight home," he beamed. "I'm gonna tell the pilot to gas it!!"

After getting to know his new offspring, Tyla will be in full preparation for the last two rounds of the series.

Michigan's Joey Crown on winning team for USA at the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in France following winning Canadian National Championships at TransCan

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) congratulates Team USA, which raced to victory against the world's top junior riders at the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, Aug. 22-24, in Dardon Gueugnon, France. The event included motocross prodigies from 34 nations competing for both individual and team FIM World Championships

American rider Jake Pinhancos took the victory in the 65cc class, Josh Mosiman was the top 85cc rider, finishing 11th overall, and Joey Savatgy placed second overall in the highly competitive 125cc class. Teams were ranked based on the finishing positions of their highest-placed rider in each class, with the lowest score winning. Team USA dominated the field with a total score of 14. Italy had the next lowest score at 23, and Team Australia rounded out the podium with a score of 25.

"Putting together a team on such a limited budget was a major challenge, but we pushed on with the level of commitment that is necessary to establish our young stars," said AMA Motocross Manager Kip Bigelow, who was the U.S. delegate for the event and a driving force to send a U.S. team this year. "As a racer my whole life, I know that dedication and teamwork are essential to success, and I am proud of all of these riders and look forward to seeing them excel not only in motocross but in life. I would like to thank the NAMU [North American Motorcycle Union], the FIM, the AMA, MX Sports and especially the families of the riders for all their support."

American Suzuki's Brian Noah managed Team USA. He added that the win would not have happened without teamwork.

"This past week in France could not have turned out any better for a first year presence," Noah said. "Everyone on the team worked together better than I could have ever imagined, and our first place overall finish for Team USA was a true testament to this. I hope with the AMA's continued support this success will only strengthen our commitment to this event so that we can continue to show the world that our amateur riders are some of the best in the world."

Noah also thanked those who contributed to the effort, including the riders, the family members, the Bonamigo Performances team, Dunlop, Answer Racing, Fox Racing, MSR, Thor MX, Richard Clarke and Kreg Bigelow."

The U.S. team won the event by breaking a three-way tie with Netherlands and Italy going into the final 125cc moto. The competition all weekend was as tough as the points battle would suggest. Racing with storms on the horizon and strong winds bearing down on the rocky course at the Circuit de Gueugnon, the riders gave the 5,000 spectators who lined the fences a race to remember.

Leading the charge for the U.S. team was Rochester, Mass., rider Pinhancos, 12. Pinhancos took the win in both 65cc class motos on his KTM. Also racing KTMs in the 65cc class, 11-year-old Brock Papi from McMurray, Pa., finished seventh overall, while 12-year-old Joey Crown from Metamora, Mich., finished eighth overall.

"It was very awesome for the AMA to pick me to represent the United States in Europe," Pinhancos said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was really excited to see all the different racers representing their countries. In the riders' meeting, you could see all the different countries there. It was really cool. I never thought I would get to do something like this. To go to Europe and win -- it feels really great to know I'm a world champion."

In the 85cc class, Mosiman, 14, from Sebastopol, Calif., and Matt Burkeen, 14, from Cary, N.C., represented the United States. While Burkeen just missed qualifying for the program on his Yamaha, Mosiman raced his Rockstar Makita Suzuki to 11th overall on the back of a gutsy second-moto charge that kept the U.S. team's title hopes alive.

Savatgy, 16, from Thomasville, Ga., and Matt Bisceglia, 16, of Weatherford, Texas, competed in the 125cc class for Team USA. Savatgy led both motos on his Rockstar Makita Suzuki before crashes allowed ultimate 125cc class champion and current European 125cc Champion Jordi Tixier to take the win. Savatgy ultimately finished second overall. With the rain coming down hard for the second 125cc moto, Bisceglia had two crashes on his Yamaha. Bisceglia's 4-18 moto finishes placed him 9th overall.

The Monster Energy Motocross Nationals will see the end of the 2010 season in the usually subdued Southwestern Ontario town of Walton this Sunday. But the entire week, known as the Walton TransCan Grand National, is anything but subdued. Hundreds of amateurs kick off the event with opening ceremonies on Tuesday evening, to be followed by four days of racing which culminates with the final round of the Pro Nationals on Sunday.

With an annual pilgrimage of more than 900 competitors, and spectator turnout that have been estimated up to 20,000, the Walton TransCan Grand National has, without a doubt, earned the right to be called Canada’s “Motocross Classic”. 8 of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals in Richmond, Ontario, on Sunday, saw the Hungarian Kornel Nemeth claim the MX1 overall on the strength of 2-1 motos. In MX2 action, Tyler Medaglia lived up to expectations by dominating on his home track and deliver his first clean sweep of the season.

In the Women’s Nationals presented by Honda, Heidi Cooke won the overall on the strength of 2-1 motos and at the same time finished the eastern segment of the points chase as champion.

WEC Wiesner Insurance Canadian National Trials Championship

The last 2 rounds of the 2010 Wiesner Insurance Canadian Trials Championship took place in Deschambault, QC last weekend. The riding conditions were perfect, sunny and dry on both days. 41 riders from across Canada (Ontario, Quebec and BC) attended the event making it a true National Championship.

Saturday, in the top class «Champ», Will Duggan (BC) took the first step of the podium with only 6 marks on his card, comfortably ahead his next rival Jonathan English (ON) who scored 21 followed by Daniel Munro (QC) with 54. In the «Expert» class Devon D'Argis (BC) took first place ahead of Paul-Yvan Bélanger (QC). In the «Advanced» class Giancarlo Capporicci (QC) took the 1st place followed by Daniel Santerre (QC) and John Purse (ON).

On Sunday, similar scenario in the Champ class with Duggan still in 1st place (this time with 22 points), followed by English (29 points) and Devon D'Argis (69 points).

In the «Expert» class Paul-Yvan Bélanger took first place ahead of Hugo Piché (QC). In «Advanced» this time John Purse was ahead of Daniel Santerre and Michel Bélanger (QC).

Shawn Maffenbeier of the Schrader’s Yamaha DC ATM PerformX SMX Racing sent me his updated blog. It was so good that it put me right in the action and I thought it was the best way to tell everyone about the most recent National in Moncton!

Quebec is one of the craziest races in the series. They’ve got freestyle guys jumping at half time, bands playing at night, and the track workers at St. Julie worked till midnight and were up at 5 am to make sure the track was ready to go. With the language barrier it sometimes creates problems but everything in the end seems to work out and everybody enjoys the weekend. Also changing things up a bit was the additional riders coming up like Jack Carpenter, Mike Brown, and Simon Homans. With them out there it was sure to be a battle right to the checkers. First race I got off to a poor start and was working my way through the pack when I went to make a pass and got tangled up with a nothing rider which sent me flying into the trees. Lucky I was okay but had to work my way from 40th. In the end I caught back up to 20th. Second race I got a much better start which put me in and around 10th place. After an epic battle with Kyle Keast and Jack Carpenter I ended up 11th leaving me with 16th overall for the day and 12th overall in the series. After the races we packed up and headed to the Champs House, "JSR”, to see what I could learn for the week.

Acton Vale, Quebec is where we spent the week with former Champ JSR. We rode his own private track on Tuesday and worked on some things, then on Wednesday we went to an old national track, Overton, which is only open for one week each year. Again we worked on a couple of things with my riding and with the mental part of motocross. Thursday it was back to the private track. Each night we would gather at JSR's house for supper and apparently the rest of Acton Vale eats at JSR's house to. There were always friends and family coming over to see Jean and it doesn’t matter who you are he treats everyone the same. After three days of riding with the Champ I was ready for Moncton New Brunswick.

The dirt was red and the skies were blue today at Riverglade MX Park in Moncton. After a little bit of rain Saturday night the track was looking extremely good in the morning. The track rutted up and got rough after practice and qualifying. The races were going to be good with the track having lots of different lines in the corners allowing us to pass and make the crowd excited to be there. Speaking of the crowd, the people from around Moncton packed the stands and lined the side of the track like I have never seen before. It was cool to see the crowd go wild over a pass or an intense battle. The first race I had 11th gate pick which gave me a good starting position. I came out of the gate and was in and around 10th place. The rocks were flying and the dust was thick for the first couple laps but once the pack started to spread out it was time to put on a charge and make up some ground. As I was trying to chase down 9th place I got kicked sideways going into a corner and just about ended up in a pond. I had to jump off and pull my bike back and in that time I was passed and was down to 13th. Once I was back on the track it was time to charge again and see if I could make up some lost ground. I got up to 10th place and that is where I finished out the first race. The second race I got another decent gate pick and got off to an even better start then the first moto putting me into about 7th place. I held seventh till just before the half way mark where I laid the bike over in a tight corner. The 8th place rider got around me but I was able to get up quickly and start chasing him down to get back my position. There was a three second gap between me and the 7th place guy at the finish. 8th in moto 2 and 8th over all for the day. The best finish of the year and the best finish to date for me. We are now headed back to Ontario to Ottawa for the Second last race of the series.

Oh, one last thing. My biggest fan sent me a picture where he put 129 tattoos all over his face and body! Check it out and thanks for the continued support!.

I'm just sitting at the Big Irving truck stop outside of Moncton...feeling pretty sore again. The week went pretty good, we got some good riding in in Quebec and made our way out to Moncton on Friday. Practice and qualifying went smooth and I was feeling pretty good.

Moto 1: My usually bad start, got some arm pump and finished 28th. Not happy with the ride at all.

Moto 2: Was having a good ride, making passes and was inside the top 20. On the last lap my shock shaft came out of the shock body and my bike rotated into a front flip over a jump. I bailed over the bars and tumbled half way down a hard pack hill. Got lots of road rash and the bike took a serious beating...I somehow still got 24th, I think cause I was the last guy to complete the last lap, although I DNFd.

Overall: 28-24, 25th Overall

Heading to Factory Connection in Quebec to see what they can do..I got a mangled shock, bent linkage, broken pipe, bent sub frame, and a bunch of other little stuff that needs fixing. Sand Del Lee is iffy...

Monster Energy Motocross Ntls -- Moncton.doc (144 KB)

Round 7 of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals in Moncton on Sunday saw Dusty Klatt record his second consecutive MX1 clean sweep while his Blackfoot Racing teammate Tyler Medaglia snared the MX2 overall on the strength of 2-1 motos.

Conspicuous by his absence at Riverglade MX Park was defending MX1 Champion Colton Facciotti who reinjured his shoulder at Round 6. Although he may return to action either at Round 8 or 9, Facciotti’s run at a three-peat this season is effectively over.

Motocross Track for Fort Nelson soon to be reality

It's been a long time coming but Fort Nelson is finally going to realize a Motocross facility. It all started with new resident John Currie and a band of like minded individuals who organized themselves into a club and made it happen. On May 25th, council approved a proposal that would lead to the construction of a first class track.

The Track will have a range of jumps, whoops section and fun sweeping bowl like turns. Surveying of the property has been concluded and construction begins now. Well for anyone who doesn’t like ruts, narly sections, or any kind of obstacle the Ste. Julie perfectly prepared track would be for you this past weekend. “ The track looked amazing as we went out for practice…and qualifiers…and moto one and moto two,” said Schrader’s Yamaha DC ATM PerformX SMX rider Shawn Maffenbeier. “It was almost to perfect. The dirt was similar to my home track, but we even develop some ruts and bumps.”

With a slow start in the first moto and a small side trip out in the rubarb, Shawn pushed through for a 20^th finish. The second moto saw the Yamah, GYTR, Yamalube bike off the line with a strong 10^th place start. “Shawn had some great battles with Paul Carpenter and Generoux,” said Randy Maffenbeier. “The most exciting was the battle between Keast, Shawn and Carpenter as the all looked for an opening.”

Even with the intense heat and humidity the PerformX trained Shawn Maffenbeier claimed a 16^th overall for the day. This allowed Shawn to maintain his 12th overall in the series. “If Shawns improves his starts and remains consitant throughout the remainder of the season, his goal of top 10 is in sight.” Said owner/manager Jackie Maffenbeier.

The Schrader’s Yamaha DC ATM PerformX SMX Racing team is sad to announce that Denaye Giroux is most likely out for the rest of the race year. “I was practicing and another rider entered the track in a blind spot as I took off from a jump,” said Giroux. “I landed on the rider and have multiple injuries that have ended my season. I can’t begin to express my disapontment. I was looking forward to challenging for the number 1 plate at the final Women’s National shootout at Walton. At this time I need to heal and look forward to the work for next season. I would like to thank all the people who have supported me this season and especially to all my great sponsors who make it possible for me to try to reach my goals and dreams.”

The Monster Energy Motocross Nationals have proven to be a real roller coaster season so far in both the MX1 and MX2 points chase. And it looks like it may very well continue that way till the ride grinds to a halt at the final round in Walton, Ontario.

Injuries and mechanical DNFs have continuously shaken up the top-10, especially in the MX1 class, which has seen no less than three points leaders between Rounds 1 thru 6.

A bit of a rough weekend for me in Quebec...

Ive been to St. Julie twice before (07 & 08) and failed to qualify on both occassions...I finally put that streak to an end as I did manage to qualify (narrowly). Whatever it is about that track, it just doesnt seem to like me.

The lap times were all real close after practice and I knew it would be tight to qualify. There were 20 guys within 2 seconds and 59 guys trying to qualify. After qualifying I was 42nd and had to go to the LCQ (urggghhh), luckily, I pulled off my best lap on the last lap of the LCQ and got the last spot! (way too close for comfort).

Oh ya, in my qualifier I almost ate it off a step up...hit a low line and came up a bit short, cased it, bounced, and ran over my left foot and ankle...its still pretty sore...

In the first moto I pulled a 21st place start but just couldnt find my grove...I faded back to 30th. It was wierd, I wasnt even tired when I pulled off but I couldnt seem to ride any harder out there. Definitely not a good ride...

In moto 2 I started in 35th (sweet) and could only make it up to 28th before having a huge get-off with 2 laps to go. This time it was on a high speed step-up. I was trying to make a pass and tried a new line which took me through some deep mud right before the take off. The rut was so deep my bike bottomed on the face and kicked me funny...people who saw the crash said it was pretty spectacular. All I know is I have a pretty sore lower back and dont know how I walked away from it...might have something to do with the huge pile of mud I landed in. Either way, I DNFd the moto and got scored for 35th (guess I can say I finished where I started)...

It was good to finally qualify there and get to put some laps in, but I wasnt on pace to score points. The field was the deepest Ive ever seen it this weekend. Pretty sure Mike Brown went 11 - 9 !

At a hotel in Quebec now getting some R&R today, then riding tomorrow at a nearby track if Im not too sore still. Im looking forward to Moncton this weekend, Ive had some good finishes there and the track seems to be more my style. Hopefully I can turn things back around!

Although he nailed down an impressive second place finish in the first MX1 moto of Round 6 of the Canadian Motocross Nationals in Ste-Julie, Quebec on Sunday, the second moto proved to be a hard luck story for Team Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Troy Lee Designs/Two Wheel Suzuki’s Bobby Kiniry.

What started out as an excellent day for Kiniry ended up on a disappointing note, when his shifter broke during the hot lap for the second moto. While the rest of the riders gated for the moto Kiniry rushed back to the paddock, where his mechanic quickly replaced the shifter.

Shawn Maffenbeier and Ricky Carmichael battled head to head this past weekend, and it was war! Of pens that is. The young up and coming Schrader’s Yamaha DC ATM PerformX SMX Racing rider had a brief glimpse of fame and adulation as he was asked to sign autographs this weekend at the MXP tent. “ I was honored to be asked by the MXP crew to come and sign autographs Sunday morning before the races,” said Maffenbeier. “I was shocked to see how big the line up was. Then I found out Ricky Carmichael was signing autographs in the next tent. I still got to sign a few posters!” he laughed, “ I was even able to get a personalized poster from Ricky myself.”

For anyone who has tried to prep his or her track for a race, the beauty of watering well is something we’ll never get tired of watching. Yes, we all covet the watering system at Gopher Dunes! Thanks to everyone for a well run and well prepared event.

Shawn got down to business in Gopher Dunes with a 9^th place finish in moto 1. “Shawn didn’t have a good start and he had to work very hard to work his way through the pack,” said owner/manager Randy Maffenbeier. “ He laid the bike down briefly, but was able to get moving again to have a good finish.” The second moto of the day had Shawn off the gate in a great position of 8^th place. “I had a much better start and was making up time quickly,” said Maffenbeier. “ I had just jumped the big finish line and all of a sudden I lost my front end. I ended up slamming my chest against my bars and getting stuck under my bike. It took me a bit to gather myself and get my breath back so I could continue.” The rough finish gave Shawn a 16^th overall for the day. “Shawn continues to work hard and improve every race,” said owner/manager Jackie Maffenbeier. “Through his perseverance today he has moved into 12^th place overall in the standings and his goal is to have a top 10 number at the end of the year. We really believe that the Schrader’s Yamaha 450F has really been one of the keys to Shawn’s consistency. The GYTR after market parts and Yamalube products kept this bike running in peak condition this weekend. We didn’t overheat or seize and the power we were able to get out of the bike proved itself over a lot of other brands on this difficult track this past weekend.”

Ste. Julie is next on the schedule and Shawn looks forward to a return of dirt that is a little more familiar. “I think this track is more like the dirt in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, a mixture of sand and hard pack. We’ll have the bike ready to go and get some training and riding in this week and I look forward to lining up on Sunday,” said Maffenbeier.

Hot humid weather and a rough Gopher Dunes track made for a do-or-die day of racing in Courtland, ON, as the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals resumed on Sunday for Round 5 of the tour after a three-week mid-season break.

As per usual the gnarly deep sand of Gopher Dunes separated the men from the boys and ensured plenty of drama and spectacle.

This weekend marked my first national of the year which was Round 5 of the CMRC Pro Nationals at Gopher Dunes. As usual, the track was ROUGH as can be. Although sand isn't my specialty, endurance definitely is and it worked to my advantage today.

There were 52 entries and I made it through timed qualifying in 31st. There were a lot of guys within one second.

Moto 1 - I lined up way on the inside and had a good jump. I ended up getting pushed out way wide in the second turn and rounded the first lap in 32nd...let's just say it was a long moto. I worked my way through the pack and broke the top 20 on the last lap, finishing 20th.

Moto 2- I tried starting closer to the middle this time and had a pretty good start until the second turn. Two riders tangled in front of me and I joined the heap. After getting my bike out it wouldn't start for the life of me. By the time I got it going I was half a lap behind last place. It was going to be a REALLY long race. I decided to give it my all though and I'm glad I did. I charged right until the end and worked my way from last to 22nd. I was stoked with the ride even though I didn't score points.

Overall: 20-22, 25th Overall

Next Friday I leave to embark on my journey out east. I'll be going straight from Quebec to New Brunswick to Ottawa for the next 3 rounds. After that I'll be coming home between Sand Del Lee and the final round at Walton. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated.

weekend, the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals resume on Sunday at
Gopher Dunes in Courtland, ON, to kick off Round 5 of the MX1 and MX2

No ATV's allowed on premises (with exception of security staff & race team

All dogs must be on leashes.

There will be concession booths on-site for both Saturday and Sunday.

There will be a beer tent on the premises on Sunday only, offered by the
Courtland Firefighters.

It is mandatory to use sealed containers to properly dispose of your oil
and gas.

Absolutely no pit motorcycle riding, pit bikes, golf carts, etc. Race bikes to at walking speed only to get to & from race.

All noise levels at minimal after 11pm, including generators. PRO PITS

Absolutely no dumping of your sewage on Gopher Dunes property; anyone
caught doing so will be fined up to $500 and made to shovel up and take home their mess!

Please keep your campsite/parking area clean & use the garbage bins.

For those not capable of abiding to these rules and using common sense, we
invite you to stay home or play elsewhere. For those that are making their
way down to partake in this amazing event at the Dunes, we wish you a safe

Dylan's Update: Ontario Provincial CHAMP!

The final round of the Ontario Provincial Series is in the books and I came out with my first Provincial Championship! I've had a couple seconds and thirds over the years so it was sweet to finally hold the #1 Plate (see attached pics). The points were super tight in both my classes - Youth and MX1 Pro - coming into the weekend. In Youth, I was 2 points behind 1st and in Pro I was 3 points of out 3rd. Coincidentally, the guy I was battling with for both of these positions was #143 Eric Thiessen. Once again the field was stacked in both classes with a lot of guys off from the nationals and getting ready for the first east coast round next weekend.
Here's the full story...
In Youth, I knew all I had to do was finish ahead of Thiessen and I would get the title. In moto 1 I finished directly ahead of him in 9th which left me one point behind him going into the final moto. I had a good start in moto 2 (narrowly missing a second turn pile up) and the pit board read "+9 on 143" when I came around the first lap in 4th. I kept pace for a few laps and got the message "143 down! +30". At that point, I didn't want to risk anything and backed it off a bit. I finished the moto in 9th, well ahead of 143 which was enough to seal the deal for the title.
In the first pro moto I had a pretty bad start and only made it up to 11th. Nonetheless, I was now only 1 pt out of 3rd for the series. In the final pro moto, we had a great 5 way battle going for 7th! Thiessen was in 7th and I was three positions back. I knew I had to beat him to get third in the series. I tried and tried to make some passes but couldn't make it happen. On the last lap I urgently tried to make a pass for 9th and lost the front end. My bike stalled and I knew it was over. I ended up with 4th in the MX1 class in the series, missing 3rd by 5 pts. I'm still happy with that.

MX1 Pro - 4th Overall

Thanks everyone for all the support so far this season, I couldn't have done it without you (or at least not looked as good doing it haha!)
With the Provincials behind me, it's now time to jump head first into the Nationals. This weekend marks Round 5 of the 9 race series at Gopher Dunes - it'll be my first national this year. My goal is to try and score points at each round and beat my best finish of 17th in the MX1 class.

After Walton, I headed straight to Strictly MX where Mike got my suspension...errrr....taught me how to service my suspension (Note: Mike separated his shoulder at Walton on Sunday). I'm pretty sure he got his share of physiotherapy for the day - thanks for gutting it out Mike! After that we headed to Gopher Dunes to get some settings for the weekend. For those of you who don't know, Gopher Dunes is the roughest track in Canada (some have said it makes Southwick look smooth). It's deep, sandy, and just plain brutal. I'll be doing my fair share of sand riding this week to prepare.

Cobra Shop Racers Finish in the Top Ten at Western Amateur National Motocross Championship

Wetaskiwin, AB (July 7, 2010) – The Cobra Shop race team competed at the Western Canadian Amateur National Motocross Championships (WCAN) from July 1st the 3rd, finishing very strong, as all members places amongst the top 10 in their respective classes.

The Cobra Shop is very pleased with the racing efforts of their sponsored riders: Max Graham, Jayce Jenson, Logan Nelson and Jamie Baskerville. “The Western Amateur National was a huge success”, explained Cobra Shop Team Manager, Phil Baskerville, “It is very hard to place consistently in any 3 race formatted events and we were very fortunate to do this at the WCAN. The team had a lot of fun at the WCAN and we are looking forward to having some of our riders compete for a Grand National Championship at the Parts Canada TransCan later this summer”.

Auburn event moved to Walton raceway this weekend

The Auburn Hills CMRC Ontario Provincial Motocross event schedule for
July 11.2010 has been moved to Walton Raceway for this weekend. Walton
will be the final round of the 2010 Ontario Provincial Championships.
There is No issues with the ownership group, municipality or quality
of the venue. Amongst the reason for the move was equipment transport
problems, water levels for irrigation. We apologized for the
inconvenience and hope that everyone can take advantage of the Walton
event in preparation for the 2010 Grand National Championships.

Dylan's Update: Round 4 of Ontario Provincials

It was a long and hot weekend in Port Perry for Round 4. They ran a 2 day, 3 moto format race Saturday/Sunday with practice on Friday. Friday's practice went pretty good - got comfortable on the track and felt good going into Saturday. All the pro motos were on Sunday so all I had Saturday was 2 Youth motos which made for a very long day - especially since they were third and last in the schedule :S

Sunday I had my two MX1 Pro motos and then the third Youth moto at the end of the day. The spaces between my pro motos were REALLY long which hindered me with arm pump in both Pro motos.

Here's my results:

Youth: 2-4-3 --> 2nd overall
MX1 Pro: 10-9 --> 9th overall

It was a bitter-sweet weekend for me. I made up 10 points on the leader in Youth and now sit 2 points out of 1st but I lost a pile of points in Pro and dropped out of the top 3. Considering I was racing mostly the same guys in Youth as I was in Pro, my results in pro SHOULD have been a lot better. I had great starts all 3 youth motos and coincidentally bad starts in both pro motos. The track got really dusty and was a tough track to pass or make up time on so the start was really important.

Well, there's one round to go next weekend in Auburn. I'm hoping to walk away with the Youth championship and with a little luck a top 3 in Pro is still possible.
This week I'm heading to Gopher Dunes to get some practice and suspension tuning in with Strictly MX for the Pro National there on July 18th.

Alpinestars Bronze Boots Award to be Presented at the 2010 Parts Canada TransCan Grand National Championship at Walton Raceway and The Western Amateur national in Raymond, Alberta

WALTON, ONT (June 30, 2010) – The Alpinestars Bronze Boot Award is recognized as the most prestigious award handed out at the Canadian Amateur Nationals. This year one Alpinestars Bronze Boot awarded at each of the CMRC Amateur Nationals. The Western Amateur National finals are on July 3rd in Raymond, Alberta, and the Parts Canada TransCan Grand National Championship at Walton Raceway finals are on August 14th in Walton, Ontario.

The Alpinestars Bronze Boot will be awarded to the rider that earns the most points during the week in either the Junior, Intermediate, or 85 / Supermini / Schoolboy classes. This is the second year that a definitive winner will be chosen based on points earned. (No winner can win the award twice)

“We are very excited to be involved with the presentation of the The Alpinestars Bronze Boot award. Winning races is obviously what racers strive for, but the Alpinestars Bronze Boot award is a prestigious and respected award at Raymond and Walton, coveted by the amateurs making their move up to the pro levels of motocross. It’s one more reason the racers put it all on the line to compete at Raymond and Walton and one more opportunity for Parts Canada to continue to “support the sport”.

“Following racers points over the duration of nine motos has become a race within itself”, stated Walton Raceway’s Marketing Director Mark Perrin. “It`s an exciting thrill to see riders keeping track of where they stand within the overall event points, as takes being consistent in every race to win the Alpinestars Bronze Boot award”.

Dylan's Langlois Update: Round 3 of Ontario Provincial Championships

I was at the Paisley RAT Track up near Owen Sound for the 3rd Round of the Provincials. It was a tiring weekend as I had a graduation party and a buck 'n doe to attend Saturday before leaving for the 5 hr drive! My good buddy Chris helped out with the drive up though and I managed to snooze for a couple hrs before arriving at 2:30am :S

The weather was cool and cloudy, it sprinkled on and off throughout the day making the track go back and forth between slick and tacky and it developed some really big ruts everywhere as it was clay. I had 2 real good motos in Youth but wasn't as happy with my Pro motos. Here's what went down:

Youth:
I managed to holeshot both motos and led the first moto for a couple laps before getting passed. I was happy with how I rode though and stayed at with the front pack both motos. It was basically all the same guys from Pro at the front of youth.
2-3 --> 1st Overall

MX1 Pro:
Got off to a slow start the first moto and the lead group sort of got away. I ended up finding myself all alone on the track with no one to really chase and I never managed to real the lead group in.
It started raining again before the 2nd moto and by this time the track had become pretty muddy and slick. I got of to a 2nd place start and things were going good until I stalled the bike in a corner on an off camber hill and struggled to get my bike started. By the time I did I was pretty far back but managed to get up to 5th.

6-5 --> 5th Overall

Well with 2 Rounds to go I still sit in 2nd Overall in the Youth class (9 pts behind leader) and now 3rd in the Pro - only 4 points separate 2nd through 4th. Next weekend I'm in Port Perry for Round 4. Wish me luck!

Despite the rain that bombarded the prairies for over a week Round 4 of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals proceeded without a hitch in Morden, Manitoba on Sunday. Ideal weather and track conditions were the order of the day at Shadow Valley Raceway as the series wrapped up the western leg of the tour.

As the afternoon wore on, however, winds started gusting and by the time the last MX1 moto of the day got underway dark threatening clouds blanketed Morden. Fortunately the rains held off but the high winds were something the riders had to contend with, especially when grabbing air.

Provincial Championship series at the Paisley RAT Track this Sunday,
June 27th.*

Ewald has been spending all his spare time making changes to the
track on the start and near the gravity-cavity section. He has also
been busy counteracting the effects of all the rain we've received
this week. As of this morning, he reports that the track is in A-1
condition!

All OPC classes will be offered in this *one-day event*. There will
be *NO ATV* classes.

$2,000 Pro purse with payout to top ten riders!

Gates will be open on Saturday until *11:00 pm* then will lock until
6:00 am Sunday morning.

Overnight parking is available for $10 per vehicle.

Early sign-in will be offered on Saturday night from 8:00-9:30.
Regular sign-in will continue Sunday morning at 6:30 am.

We will be handing out awesome trophies for the mini track racers as
soon as they complete their second moto on the junior track.

As the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals head to Shadow Valley Raceway in Morden, Manitoba this weekend for Round 4 – the final round of the western leg of the tour – the big question on everyone’s mind is will Colton Facciotti be lining up behind the MX1 start gate on Sunday?

Facciotti, who suffered head injuries after cross rutting and going down hard in the first moto at Wild Rose MX Park last Sunday, was kept for neurological observations at Foothills Hospital in Calgary and released on Tuesday.

	BITTERSWEET WEEKEND FOR TEAM YAMAHA AS KLATT SWEEPS MX-1 AND MEDAGLIA TAKES HIS SECOND MX-2 OVERALL It was a bittersweet weekend for Team Yamaha Red Bull Fox Racing for round 3 of the CMRC Canadian MX Nationals. Dusty Klatt swept both MX-1 motos to take the overall and Tyler Medaglia maintained his point lead on the MX-2 Championship hunt with a 2-1 finish to take the overall. Unique to any city in North America, the Wild Rose Motocross Park is located across the street from the team’s mothership dealership, Blackfoot Motosports; as well as it is very close to the downtown core of Calgary. Sunday morning greeted the teams and the fans with a favorable sunny day after the area had been pelted with thunderstorms and rain the previous few days. In the first MX-1 moto, Dusty Klatt grabbed the holeshot on the new fuel injected YZ450 with Colton Facciotti a few positions back. In a matter of a few corners Colt swapped back and forth with Kiniry to move into second and start his attack on Klatt. At the 9 minute mark Facciotti moved past Klatt to take the lead. Halfway through the moto Colt had a 4 second lead over Klatt who enjoyed a 23 second lead over Suzuki mounted Kiniry. Diaster struck at the 21 minute mark when Facciotti cross rutted in a section and went down violently which caused a red flag. The officials called it a race, while medical staff stabilized Colt and transported him to the hospital. Klatt did not disappoint in the second moto, as he again grabbed the holeshot and lead wire to wire in a dominant performance to take the checkers with an over 20 second gap to Kiniry in second. Dusty is now 34 points behind Kiniry after scoring no points last weekend with 6 rounds left before the Championship is decided. “My thoughts are with my team-mate Colton that is for sure,” said an obviously shaken Klatt after the second moto. “I was right behind him and saw the whole thing and it was scary for sure. I feel much better now knowing he is going to be ok and I would rather have won fair and square by beating him in each moto however racing is racing and we never know what the future holds. I know what I have to do to win this championship, have made some positive changes in my life the past few weeks, and feel I am riding much better each weekend. Thanks to my team, our sponsors and all my fans for sticking with me all these years!” “We are also very pleased to report that Colt is doing very well and was released on Monday afternoon from the hospital,” said Team Owner Jason Mitchell. “We would like to thank everyone for their concerns, prayers and support. We look forward to having Colt back under our tent as soon as he is released by his doctors.” The MX-2 title chase is offering some of the best racing the series has experienced, and this weekend was no exception. In the morning qualifier, Tyler Medaglia was on top of the leader board, closely followed by Teddy Maier and Jeremy Medaglia. Everyone knew that the ensuing races would be competitive and close. In the first MX-2 moto in Calgary, Tyler Medaglia reached his goal of a clean start in the top five. By the 5 minute mark, he was running third behind Rife and Teddy. The trio freight trained around the track until Maier moved past Rife for the lead. Medaglia made a pass stick on Rife as time moved forward, to cross the finish line in second place only 11 seconds off the leader. The start of the second moto was almost a carbon copy of the first with the same trio of riders, Rife, Maier and Medaglia running close to each other by the 5-minute mark. Only 11 minutes into the race, Rife went down handing the lead over to Maier with Medaglia in tow. Both riders put on a great battle for the fans, running a torrid pace until Medaglia stuck a pass on Maier to take the lead. This was short lived as Tyler found himself on the ground in a corner, handing the lead back to Maier. Running 5 seconds behind the leader Tyler put his head down to try and make up the time and re-gain the lead, however, this time it was Maier’s turn to find himself on the ground allowing Medaglia to take over the lead, take the win and the overall for the day. “I don’t think anyone could ask for any tighter racing than this class this weekend,” smiled Tyler Medaglia. “Maier and Rife are really riding well and so is my brother which really makes for some competitive racing. I had found a great line on the big uphill in the back during my warm up lap in the 2nd moto and I knew it would be a good spot to try and stick a pass during the moto, and that is exactly what happened. Then after making the pass to take the lead I made a mistake and gave him back the lead, which really was frustrating. When I saw him go down late in the moto and give me back the lead I was finally able to relax and finish the race. I am so happy with the team, the bike and everyone this year. I am working so hard to bring home this championship for the team and for Canada!” Riders Jared and Parker Allison again had a great weekend of racing as they continue to gain the experience and speed necessary to get on the podium. Jared had a great ride finishing 6th overall while Parker was 11th keeping them in the top ten in the series at 6th and 9th. While leading Round 3 of the MX-1 Canadian National event in Calgary,
AB, current Canadian MX-1 Champion Colton Facciotti cross rutted and
went down late in the first moto.
He was stabilized at the track and transported to the Foothills Hospital.
Colton suffered head injuries and underwent extensive neurological
testing at the hospital. We are pleased to report that there does not
seem to be any serious neurological damage at this time.
He was kept overnight and is still currently hospitalized for closer
observations. We are hoping he will be released later today.
Obviously he is very sore this morning however is in good spirits.
His family and friends would like to thank everyone for all their
concerns, prayers and support.

Team Yamaha/Red Bull/Blackfoot/Fox Racing’s Dusty Klatt registered his first MX1 overall win of the season at Round 3 of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals in Calgary on Sunday.

Tyler Medaglia made it a perfect day for Blackfoot Racing booking the MX2 overall on the strength of 2-1 motos.

BLYTH FESTIVAL ART GALLERY ANNOUNCES SUMMER EXHIBITIONS.

The Blyth Festival Art Gallery, a very popular part of the Blyth
Centre for the Arts, has announced its summer season of exhibitions.
Following the annual Student Show and Community Shows, the Gallery
highlights the works of exceptional artists from around the province.

In 2010, the season opens with Road to Olympus, by Edward Schleimer.
This exhibition of powerful wood cut prints and wood sculptures is an
allegorical life’s journey that the artist describes as the “climax of
40 years of effort”. The images of landscapes and buildings near his
Easthope Township home represent a search for artistic and spiritual
enlightenment. He even calls his studio the “Chapel of the Glass
Stoneman”, a references to the window panels that are stacked in a
manner similar to that of Inuit inukshuks. The show opens Friday, June
25, at 6:00 pm and continues to July 1.

In contrast to Schleimer’s stark black and white images, Natalie
Hussey’s Carnival presents the viewer with a circus of brilliant
fantasies. The Goderich artist’s unique portrayals of carnival-like
environments are rich in texture and brilliant colours. The paintings
are filled with the vibrant imagination of childhood and the simple
innocence we may long for as adults. Opening Friday, July 16, at 6:00
pm, it runs until August 11, 2010.

Finally, the gallery presents a unique artistic approach to a modern
technological advancement. Coordinates is an exploration of geo-
caching with large scale black and white photographs by Elizabeth Van
den Broeck, also of Goderich. Geo-caching is a “sport” in which the
location of a hidden treasure is revealed by GPS technology of. Here
the “treasure” is the location itself, documented by beautiful
photographs of the Huron County landscapes. The show runs from August
13 to mid September.

Mounted by a small, enthusiastic committee of art-lovers, the shows
are presented next to the Blyth Festival Box Office in the Bainton
Gallery. The group that believes that the showing of a variety of fine
art partnered with live theatre is an important contribution to the
quality of life in the community. The Blyth Festival Art Gallery
invites members of the public to be a part of their ongoing quest to
provide high quality, stimulating artistic experiences for gallery
patrons and for the community at large.

Dylan's Update: Round 2 of Ontario Provincials @ Walton

Just got home from the 2 day race at Walton and had a great weekend. Saturday turned out to be a mudder with constant rain throughout the day. I only rode the Youth class Saturday as the Pro Classes were both on Sunday.

Saturday:
There were 63 riders in Youth so they had to run qualifiers. I got fifth in my qualifier which was probably the muddiest moto of the day. In the main I knew the start would be crucial but unfortunately I got some wheel spin coming out of my gate and was off to a 25th place start. By the end of the moto I had worked my way up to 10th with some pretty sketchy moments coming through the pack...I could hardly hold my head up from all the mud that had accumulated on it!

Sunday:
When we woke up it was pretty foggy and there was a light mist. Amazingly the track had tacked up nice and ended up being awesome, littered with multiple deep long ruts in every corner. I loved the track today!
As a side note, I borrowed a 250F to ride for the day (which I didn't ride before today haha) just to get some extra track time and break up the waiting between motos. My main focus was of course the MX1 class.

MX2: 6-5, 5th overall (6 riders) - Nothing to exciting to talk about other than losing my rear brake half way through moto 1
MX1: 7-4, 4th overall (17 riders) - Felt great, had top 10 both starts both motos and managed to work my way up a bit. I really felt good today on the 450.

After 2 of 5 Rounds I currently sit 2nd Overall in the Youth class and 2nd Overall in the MX1 Pro class.
Next race is Round 3 in two weeks at the Paisely RAT Track.

#471 Logan Karnow killed the supermini Final and Cole Thompson put on yet another clinic in the MX1 Int class. #194 Richard Grey fell hard and broke the front end of his bike. Bless battled hard to pass Beatty for 2nd in the moto. Track is CLASSIC Walton right now...tacky with nice corner ruts
