| NTC Agreements OFTR partnerships The OFTR has been busy entering into trail partnership agreements with various stakeholders in Ontario.... The following contracts have been signed and work will begin very soon: Simcoe County Forest $68,200 SCORRA 3,000 Ganaraska Forest 41,000 Ausable River Riders 12,360 Twin Mountain Snowmobile Club 28,000 OFTR Land Use Fund 20,500 Total (so far) $173,060 Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, the Government of Canada is investing $25 million to improve 514 recreational trails across Canada. This investment in Canada's outdoor heritage will help to quickly create jobs, support into local economies, and attract tourists. The Government's $25-million contribution will be matched by the National Trails Coalition (NTC) and its partners. The OFTR needed to find $866,666 dollars in matching funds in 30 days and came up with $949,546. "We were over-subscribed and able to capitalize on a shortfall from other trail federations", according to Ken Hoeverman, Executive Director We hope to have the remaining $776,000 in contracts signed soon. Hopefully everyone had a great time out on the trails this summer, let's keep our fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate with us for at least a few more weeks. As the riding season comes to an end, however, we'd like to thank each and every OFTR member for a very productive year thus far.
