Colton Facciotti rules MX1 – Tyler Medaglia takes MX2 overall

Blackfoot Racing Yamaha dominated Round 1 of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals, which got underway at Whispering Pines Raceway in Kamloops, British Columbia on Sunday.

With defending champ Colton Facciotti, the winningest team in Canadian motocross history nailed down the MX1 overall on the strength of 1-1 motos while Tyler Medaglia claimed the MX2 overall, thanks to 3-1 motos. Putting the icing on the cake for Blackfoot was a second overall MX1 finish by Dusty Klatt, who cleared the task with hard charging 3-2 motos.

Other than some strong winds blowing through the North Thompson River valley, the weather delivered ideal racing conditions, with mostly sunny skies. A huge rider turnout complemented by a throng of rabid motocross fans made for an excellent start to the season.
