Schrader’s Yamaha DC ATM PerformX SMX Racing Riders Battle in Kamloops

Shawn Maffenbeier proved this past weekend in Kamloops that a rough first moto can be overcome.  With a 20th place start, Shawn quickly gained ground on board his Schrader’s Yamaha 450F. He was charging hard in 11th place when he ended up with a flat rear tire over the finish line jump shortly after the half way mark. The DC ATM pit mechanic changed the tire and Shawn managed to work back to 30th. The second moto faired much better. “With the new Rekluse clutch that we’re running this year, I was able to get a good jump and was off the line in 6th place,” said Maffenbeier. The young 17-year-old rider had a bobble in a rough back section costing him a few positions. “Shawn looked relaxed and his great PerformX training showed as he finished in a strong 12th in the second moto for a 15th overall for the day,” said manager and owner Randy Maffenbeier. “We believe Shawn is a top 10 rider and that’s where we expect to see him in the next rounds.”

Women’s Rider, Denaye Giroux, charged hard off the line on her Schrader’s Yamaha 250F coming around the first corner in 1st place. She consistently gained time on her nearest competitor finishing number 1 in moto 1. The second moto had Denaye squeezed out on the start. Denaye worked her way quickly through the pack into 2nd place. Running out of time and laying the bike down gave Denaye a 3rd place finish for a second overall for the day. “ Having a rough start in the second moto gave Shelby to much of a head start,” said Denaye. “ The Schrader’s Yamaha bike ran great and I just have to work on fewer mistakes.” “Denaye showed true grit and we’re thrilled with her first podium finish for the year,” said Jackie Maffenbeier.
