Popular Huron Map Updated - 2nd edition Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Map highlighting places to get locally grown food has been released with 129 listings.

The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Map highlighting places to get locally grown food has been released with 129 listings. Fourteen local producers and 21 restaurants who offer local foods from across Huron and Perth Counties have been added.

The map includes where to buy local food such as vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, baked goods and maple syrup. New this year are participating restaurants who celebrate and serve local foods. The map also includes seasonal attractions and tour information.

The Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Map is produced by the Huron Perth Farm to Table Committee. Chairperson Janice Dunbar says the map has been very popular with over 50,000 copies distributed in the first year. She says they expected to have enough for two years, but it has been so popular it had to be updated and reprinted. Another 50,000 have been printed. The map is free and available at every tourist operation, libraries, municipal offices, health units, food producers and participating restaurants.

Ms. Dunbar says the map is easy to use. She suggests keeping it your glovebox and plan weekend drives to favourite spots. “People are more and more aware of the importance of eating locally grown foods. It’s great quality, supports local agriculture and protects the environment. This map helps people connect directly with the people who produce or serve fresh and local foods.”

The map will also be available online at www.huroncounty.ca/health
