Mid-Summer Update from the Dunes.....July 29, 2009.....
It's now our 5th. consecutive year and Gopher Dunes has had the privilege of hosting 'Round 5' of the 2009 CMRC Monster Energy Pro National Motocross Races on July 19th. And for all of those in attendance, whether it was to spectate or participate, they will all agree to what a spectacular show that had unfolded; plus we finally had ideal race weather to compliment "the best show in the dirt"!!!
Now we're all anxious to see the televised version of Round 5 of the 2009 CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals which will be broadcast on Rogers SportsNet on the following dates & times:
East - Saturday, August 15: 3 - 4pm / Wednesday, August 19: 1 - 2pm
Ontario - Saturday, August 15: 1 - 2pm / Wednesday, August 19: 1 - 2pm
West - Saturday, August 15: 10:30 - 11:30am / Monday, August 17: 7 - 8pm
Pacific - Saturday, August 15: 12noon - 1pm / Thursday, August 20: 1 - 2pm

Now for those of you more interested in viewing how things unfolded at the 4x4 Summer MudFest hosted at the Dunes on June 28th. -- you can find a collection of at least a dozen video clips posted on www.youtube.com and search for Gopher Dunes Mudfest Summer 2009.
All the full day Group Training Sessions have now wrapped up at the Dunes, but we are still scheduling in lots of summer training for private or semi-private and even family group sessions. This consists of anything from first-time beginner dirt bike and ATV enthusiasts just interested in learning the basics and safety aspects of off-roading; to advanced levels for those racers wanting to improve on their motocross and quad racing skills. Private training is offered mid-week only and a few days notice is required to confirm a time slot with an instructor. Bike and ATV rentals are also available, but with it comes a mandatory minimum of one hour basic safety and riding instruction. Once trained, the rider can then rent the same bike or quad for additional hours throughout the season on an hourly basis, midweek only. Fees for practice riding: $20 per rider midweek
$25 per rider weekend
Camping is allowed at a fee of $10 per vehicle and the campers must
notify us at time of sign-in that they plan to stay overnight. Camping
rules apply, as per our website. Facilities are limited to portable
johnny-on-the-spots; there are no hydro or water hook-ups.
With the tremendous amounts of rain we've been having over the last
few weeks, the track conditions remain ideal, and instead of regularly
turning on the irrigation guns to water the tracks, the skies upon up
and do the job for us!
Thus with a liberally watered sand track, comes a well-saturated trail
system which is ideal for those seeking the mud!
That should wrap it up now for the month of August. Lots more event action will be happening in September & October!!
