Canadian Arenacross Champions 2010/2011- a NEW DIRECTION

After two decades of staging the Canadian Arenacross Championship the Hellam family namely Jamie and dad John, respective owners and operators of both Nex Trax Entertainment & Future West Promotions have been hard at work re jigging this year's Canadian Arenacross Championships.

For the past decade Chilliwack's Heritage Park has been the host venue for the majority of the rounds and will remain the annual site for the first two weekends of the series in November. After the success of last year's expansion of the series to Penticton for the final rounds of Canadian Arenacross Championships promoted by RGibbs Promotions it was decided by John and Jamie to further expand the series in 2010/11 to new venues and a wider range of spectators in more communities utilizing hockey and concert style venues, something Future West has done successfully for the past 14 years in the UK with the British Supercross Championship.

The first new venue will be the Canada Games Arena in Grande Prairie Alberta provisionally scheduled for the weekend of December 18th and 19th title sponsored by Wesco Testing and Wireline Inc. and West Range Oilfield Hauling Ltd. The second new venue will be the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre home of the AHL Abbotsford Heat and will run on the weekend of January 22. The Abbotsford event will be held on the same weekend as the annual Vancouver International Motorcycle Show which is held at the Abbotsford Tradex Exhibition facility just a short distance from the Entertainment and Sports Centre. Penticton is back on the schedule for this year's series on the weekend of February 25th and 26th.

Because of the travel distance to Grand Prairie there will be two championships to be decided this year. The existing Canadian Arenacross Championship will consist of all rounds of the series at all venues including Grande Prairie. The West Coast Arenacross Championship will consist of Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Penticton.

Nex Trax' Jamie Hellam had this to say, "Chilliwack Heritage Park is a very unique venue and will continue to be the home of the Canadian Arenacross Championship. After much deliberation we felt the time was right to expand the series to premiere venues across the West Coast. It's only fair that we bring the series to the faithful competitors that come from the Interior and Alberta along with the help of my dad John and his vast knowledge of dealing with and organizing events in these type of venues we are excited to be moving in this new direction." John Hellam added "It's good to be expanding into new areas and taking the sport to new audiences. We have a lot of experience in these type of venues and are more than ready for this challenge.

On sale dates, rider information and track rentals for the 2010/11 Canadian Arenacross Championship will be available in the coming weeks on www.arenacross.ca

16th Place finish for Team Canada at MX of Nations

Kyle Keast, Jeremy Medaglia, and Kaven Benoit did Canada proud at the Motocross of Nations in Thunder Valley, Colorado this past weekend, finishing 16th overall out of 31 countries entered.

While a 16th place finish may not look all too impressive on paper to the casual motocross fan, it was nonetheless a major accomplishment for Team Canada. In fact, just reaching the A main at a world motocross showdown like the MXoN is a feat in itself.

Team East Wins 2010 Parts Canada Cup Canadian Amateur Motocross East vs West Shootout

TEAM EAST WINS 2010 PARTS CANADA CUP CANADIAN AMATEUR MOTOCROSS EAST VS WEST SHOOTOUT

LONDON, ONT (September 3, 2010) – Since 1992, The Parts Canada TransCan at Walton Raceway has showcased the talents of Canada’s top amateur motocross racers, as they compete for Canadian Motocross Grand National Championships. A major feature that was incorporated 5 years ago into the weeklong TransCan event was the Parts Canada Cup Canadian Amateur Motocross East vs. West Shootout.

The Parts Canada Cup Canadian Amateur Motocross East vs. West Shootout provides the battle grounds as youth and amateur racers from the East Coast and West Coast get a chance to race head to head. The intention of the Parts Canada Cup is to find out which coast produces the fastest young riders, so their respective team managers decide over the course of the week which amateur and youth riders will wear the blue (west) or red (east) Parts Canada Cup bibs on the track in between Pro races on Sunday.

This year Team East won the Parts Canada Cup by finishing 32 point in front of Team West. The 2010 runner-up Western team manager was Gisele DeKoninck of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Gisele worked with amateur racer team captions, Jess Petits and Cole DeKoninck to field their team of 40 racers. Team East was led by Eastern team manager Barry Hetherington of Port Perry, Ontario, who worked with amateur racer team captions, Cody Richmond and Bradley Dool.

"We (Parts Canada) are thrilled to have been involved (for the first time) with the Canada Cup at the Parts Canada TransCan Walton weekend. It is such a fantastic exhibition of our Canadian talent and it really offers us a preview of who to watch for in years to come. But beyond seeing our future of motocross it is a fabulous way to bring our riders together within our race community. We are very proud of this event and of the managers and racers who participated in it."

The Supermotocross Monster Energy October 2nd at the Olympic Stadium - A new title sponsor joins the most popular fall sporting event in Montréal

A new title sponsor joins the most popular fall sporting event in Montréal

The Great October 2nd Event at the Olympic Stadium
Now Known As The Supermotocross Monster Energy

Montréal, September 7, 2010
- The most popular fall sporting event in Quebec has a new name. As of now, the great fall extravaganza that will, on October 2, bring together close to 50,000 motocross fans at the Montreal Olympic Stadium will be known as the Supermotocross Monster Energy presented by Coors Light and Parts Canada/Thor. Pierre Corbeil, promoter of the event, and Patrick Wilson, Vice-President and General Manager of Monster Energy Canada, officialized today a formal three-year partnership making the popular energy drink company the title sponsor of the event.

"We are extremely happy with this new partnership established with Monster Energy, a company seriously involved in the promotion of our sport at the national and international level," said Pierre Corbeil, promoter of the event. "The involvement of a sponsor of such magnitude confirms our place as a major sporting event, and enables us to explore new possibilities in order to offer our faithful fans a more than ever electrifying Supermotocross Monster Energy."

"The Montreal Supermotocross is a must for Quebec and Canadian fans. As true professionals, its promoters have proven over the course of the last thirty-three years that they know how to organize and promote an event that has always been spectacular and remains very popular among its fans,"
said Patrick Wilson, Vice-President and General Manager of Monster Energy Canada. "To become the title sponsor of the event enables Monster Energy to team up with a proven winner and reinforces our position as the number one partner in the North American motocross family."

The involvement of the popular Monster Energy drink in motocross across North America encompasses different series. In the United States, they sponsor the AMA Supercross, a 17-round championship series held at major stadiums in the USA. In Canada, they sponsor the CMRC Canadian Motocross National Championship.

Monster Energy sponsors the CMRC Canadian Championship Series' Team Kawasaki Leading Edge and their riders Teddy Maier, Spencer Knowles and Shawn Rife as well as Team Cernic's Kawasaki and riders Josh Demuth and Troy Adams. South of the Canadian border, the energy drink company supports motocross Team Pro Circuit (Jake Weimer, Tyla Rattray, Josh Hansen, Dean Wilson, Christophe Pourcel) in the AMA Championship, as well as supercross riders Chad Reed, Ryan Villopoto and legendary Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael. They are also active in endurocross with riders Justin Soule and Ricky Dietrich. Nate Adams, Adam Jones, Kyle Loza and Australian Blake Williams also sport their colors in freestyle. Finally, Monster Energy as also backed for the last seven years Tucker Hibbert, an outstanding snocross, and motocross rider.

The most-coveted seats for the Supermotocross Monster Energy, as well as all reserved seating, went on sale Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Ticket prices range from $10.00, $19.00, to $29.00 and $39.00, and are available at Admission (www.admission.com or by calling (514) 790-1245 or 1 800 361-4595). Tickets will also be available at participating motorcycle dealers from all regions of Quebec. Go online to www.montrealmotocross.com to learn more about the Supermotocross Monster Energy.

Aside from the local professional NHL and CFL teams, the Supermotocross Monster Energy is the oldest running sporting event in Montreal. Since the launch of the event in 1977, it has been presented annually except the year the Olympic Stadium was closed due to repairs. To date, more than 1.6 million spectators have crossed the turnstiles of the Olympic Stadium to watch more than 150 participants from Canada, the United States, and Europe, who each year accept the organizers invitation to compete in Montreal. An event, whose popularity cannot be denied, draws nearly 50,000 spectators made of families and friends from all regions of Quebec, Eastern Canada, and Northeastern of the United States. The Canadian Motorsport Racing Corporation (CMRC) is a marketing and membership driven organization committed to the growth and development of competitive off-road motorcycle racing, sanctions the Supermotocross Monster Energy.

As of 9pm the track has received enough rain in the last couple of hours as to be impassable. The forecast is for continued rain through the night and early morning.

With great regret we are calling the event rather than have folks wasting gas to get here -- please pass the word on to friends ASAP.

Next CMRC event for South Western Ontario region is the Vet National at Walton Raceway  next Saturday Sept 11 followed on Sunday by the opening round of the Fox Fall Hi  Point series on Sept 12.

Calling all sport-delivery organizations, teams and clubs - host your Sports Day in Canada event and join a national celebration of sport.

Calling all sport-delivery organizations, teams and clubs

Get involved by hosting your own local celebration event anytime during the week leading up to, and including, September 18.  Join thousands of organizations across Canada and plan a party, open house, game, competition, meet-and-greet, try-it day, tournament, fun run, spectator event or pep rally.  Create something new, or throw open your doors to a competition, activity or event your organization is already doing—and invite other Canadians to join you:

  1. Think of a sport-related event or activity that your organization, club, team or school is already doing, or could do, between September 11 and 18, 2010. If the event is already open to the public, great—all you have to do is register it on the site.  If not, decide how you could open it up to the public—hold an open house, offer a free ‘try-it day,’ hold an athlete meet-and-greet before a competition, stage a community softball game, invite people to view a team practice or invite your local mayor to host a demonstration event of your sport.  Use your imagination.
  2. Post the details of your local event (contacts, description, photo etc.) on the Sports Day in Canada website atwww.cbcsports.ca/sportsday as soon as possible.
  3. Promote your event to the public.  After August 18, the site will include free promotional tools you can download and customize:  e-blasts to send to your organization’s members, web banner ads to put on your website, free articles about Sports Day in Canada for your newsletter, customizable posters you can print and put up in the community, etc.
  4. The event listings registered on www.cbcsports.ca/sportsday will become fully, publicly searchable after August 18.  Individuals can make plans to come to your event, media can find out details and the country can learn more about your sport and your organization!
  5. You will also be invited to promote your event to the local media in the 2-3 weeks leading up to September 18.  Free PR templates will be available in early September for you to send out to any local contacts you have.  If you know any local politicians or elite athletes or celebrities, invite them to come to your event and tell people about it!
  6. Host your Sports Day in Canada event and join a national celebration of sport.
