May 3 CMRC Race Report:
At the first "big" race of the year, the race contenders showed their form
at Round one of the Southwestern Ontario Amateur National Qualifiers.  The
notoriously rough Gopher Dunes track hosted over 600 race entries, and for
the first time this year, there were perfectly blue skies.

ProAm was the days' feature class and the first moto started just as how
the Gopher Dunes round of the '08 Monster Energy MX Nationals ended, which
was an epic dual between Rockstar Suzuki teammates Kyle Keast and Tyler
Medaglia.   Keast was the early moto leader, but Medaglia picked away at his
lead until he was close enough to set Keast up for the pass over the finish
line table top. Keast immediately answered back with a pass of his own. The
two seesawed until Medaglia finally made a pass stick to take the win.
Orange Motosports' Liam O' Farrell  had the lead pace until just after half
way when he bobbled and settled into third. Jermey Medaglia fought from back
in the pack to pass Machine Racing's Chuck Mesley for fourth.

In moto two, it was Keast jumping to a quick lead with O'Farrell and Tyler
Megalia following in second and third.  Keast began pushing the pace and
tried to pull away from the pack, but O'Farrell matched the speed while
Medaglia fell back and seemed comfortable with third.  O'Farrell and Keast
then battled to make for the best race of the day. The two riders began
swapping the lead numerous times a lap until Keast stalled his Suzuki,
handing the lead to O' Farrell with a few laps to go.  Keast (2-2) would
finish second in the moto and third overall.  O' Farrell (3-1) took the moto
win and the overall for the day. Tyler Medaglia (1-3) would settle for third
and second overall. Jeremy Medaglia (4-4) finished the moto in fourth and
was fourth overall on the day.

GP Pro Am Results:  Liam O' Farrel (3-1) 2.Tyler Medaglia (3-1) 3. Kyle
Keast (2-2) 4. Jeremy Medaglia (4-4) 5. Chuck Mesley (5-6)

Other notable riders were Jordan Churcher who took the Intermediate MX1 win
ahead of Suzuki's Daymon Goold; Richard Grey dominated the Junior MX2,
Junior MX3 and Schoolboy classes winning every moto; Nick Cryer was the 50cc
7-8 winner  in a large class of high-throttled kids while older brother
Nathan Cryer snagged the overall 65cc 7-9 class; Ken Gilmour took the
overall in +40 ahead of Machine Racing's John Nelson.

Next weekend will be the first round of the Royal Distributing Ontario
Provincial Championships presented by Motovan.com, and the 2nd round of the
Amateur National Qualifers at Auburn Raceway. After a very disappointing
first race cancellation, the track is in top shape and ready for Ontario's
best for two days of racing.  For a full race day schedule for Auburn and
information, click here
