Seaforth Golf Club news re. Canadian Tour and the Seaforth Country Classic

It's hard to believe it's the "Ides of July".  It almost feels like the summer is still to come.
We just wanted to update our members, guests, area golfers and friends on what is going on at Seaforth Golf Club.  Be sure to visit the website www.seaforthgolf.com and also www.seaforthcountryclassic.com .  We try to keep both sites up to date.

In July we have the Ladies Invitational coming up next week and Couples Night is July 25th.  Then believe it or not we'll be gearing up for the Canadian Tour event in August.

We just want to remind you all that if you would like to volunteer, host a player, caddy, play in the pro-am, or sponsor a part of the Seaforth Country Classic you just go on line to the Country Classic website and follow the prompts.

There is a Caddy Training Session on Monday July 27th at 7 p.m. and a volunteer session on Saturday August 15th.

It's going to be a great week and we have some great things going on, for example:
Monday is the qualifier for four spots in the event.  Elite golfers - professional or amateur can enter and lay their game on the line for a chance to play in the week long event.
Monday afternoon is practice time for the pros.
Tuesday is Pro Am Day - there is an 8 a.m. shotgun start and a 1:15 shot gun start.  The entry fee is $300.00 per person and this includes 18 holes of golf with your pro, two meals, live entertainment sponsored by Seaforth Insurance Brokers, and a gift package worth over $250.00!  The Pro Am is almost full so please enter as soon as possible.  It is a walking pro am so keep that in mind as you may have to bring along a friend to caddy.  That evening we will draw the winner of the two tickets to the 2010 Masters.  Make sure you get your Early Bird Ticket before August 20th.  Only $20.00 - it gets you in all week and gets you into the draw!
Wednesday is a practice day for the pros and there is a Wee Break Junior Golf session at the range at 11 a.m. for all young golfers.  We are still looking for a sponsor for that event so if you know any companies with a tight budget, this may be a great way to promote themselves.
Wednesday evening professionals and interested golfers are invited to hear author, Bob Skura, in the clubhouse at 7 p.m. Bob's book, "How Great Golfers Think" focuses on the mental aspects of golf and anyone serious about their game will enjoy Bob's session.
Thursday -Sunday is tournament time.  Golfers tee off early in the morning and golf continues all day.  There is a cut on Friday night when the tournament field is reduced by half.
Thursday - Sunday each evening there is live entertainment in the hospitality tent and you don't have to be a golf fan to enjoy the music and fun.  Qwatro is sponsoring Kim Souch on Thursday night, Marcia and Fred Leitch from ReMax Land Exchange and Letich Langlois Lawyers are sponsoring her on Friday night, and Carl  Bolton Seeds is sponsoring Kim on Saturday night.  We are still looking for a sponsor on Sunday night for Yaeger.
Also Sunday right after golf there will be closing ceremonies and the presentation of the trophy to the winner of the event.  Don Martin will be piping the winner onto the 18th putting green immediately after the winner is confirmed.

During the week long golf and festivities we will be raising money for our charity the Gateway Rural Health Research Institute.  Half of the ticket money goes to the charity but an additional benefit will happen every time a pro gets an eagle on # 4 Wes Spence Accounting will donate $25.00 to the charity up to $500.00  We have a couple of other holes where eagles will be the goal so if there's anyone else out there who would like to take up Wes' challenge for the cause then let us know.

Remember that players hosts and volunteers are invited the Appreciation Party on September 19th and that all volunteers receive a complimentary round of golf from Seaforth Golf Club.

If you cannot take the time to volunteer or host someone, please purchase a ticket and come out and watch some great golf!  These are truly the stars of the future in your own back yard!
