CMRC Canadian Pro National series and Women's National series dates and details announced

Canadian Motosport Racing Corporation is pleased to announce the schedule for 2010 Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.

The opening round will continue to be held in the west at Whispering Pines Raceway in Kamloops, BC, then work its way east using the same successful scheduling format used in 2009. The only venue change for the nine-round series is in Quebec as the series will be returning to Ste-Julie near Montreal.

A change to the national weekend format will see Pros practice, qualify and race on Sunday only. No longer will there be an optional practice offered to the Pros on Saturday. This change is being introduced to reduce the cost to participate in the series for all riders, teams and sponsors, and will allow more time for amateur day racing each Saturday.

Also new for the 2010 nationals, the allowable sound level for MX2 bikes has been reduced from 99dBA to 94dBA. The level for MX1 machines will remain at 94 dBA. CMRC is making every effort to reduce noise pollution to ensure facilities remain open and motocross racing remains strong in every region of the country.

Due to the challenging economic times, the motorcycle manufacturers will no longer post a series purse at the completion of the series, but will be releasing their respective contingency programs soon.

SCHEDULE AND NEW FORMAT FOR WOMEN’S NATIONALS

Continuing with the theme of reducing expenses to compete at national events, the Royal Distributing Women’s National Championships will take on a completely new format starting in 2010.

The series will now be divided into East and West Championships, with a “Shootout” taking place at the Trans Can GNC in Walton, Ontario. Three rounds will determine a champion for both the Eastern and Western Championships then points from the three motos of the Trans Can will be added to the respective Championship points to determine the overall Women’s standings. Practice and motos for the Eastern/Western rounds will take place on the Sunday of each Pro National.

The Ontario/Manitoba border in Canada and the Mississippi River in the United States will determine geographically in which championship series a rider is to compete. The top three finishers from both the Eastern and Western Championships are guaranteed a starting position at the Trans Can in Walton, however, it is recommended to pre-enter and participate in regional ANQs regardless. All other series details have yet to be finalized.
