The battle for the podium positions in the 2009 CMRC Women’s National Series has taken a new turn. Denaye Giroux of Yorkton, Saskatchewan put in an outstanding ride

Yorkton, SK, August 6, 2009 – The battle for the podium positions in the 2009 CMRC Women’s National Series has taken a new turn. Denaye Giroux of Yorkton, Saskatchewan put in an outstanding ride on her Yamaha YZ250F at the Riverglade National this past weekend. Going 2 - 2 for 2nd overall this weekend moving her into a solid 3rd in the standings and is within 5 points of 2nd place Jocelyn Killough of Ontario with one round remaining.

The outstanding Riverglade Track was very much to Denaye’s liking. In moto 1 she started in 7th and by lap 3 battled past most of her main competitors to get into 3rd. Then using all of her training and skills she chased down Quebec’s Sara LaLiberte and made the pass for 2nd the 7th lap. With her best lap time only 1.4 seconds off the leader, Heidi Cooke of Nova Scotia, and a full 2 seconds faster than the balance of the field Denaye finished a solid 2nd. Moto 2 started with Denaye pulling the holeshot and leading for much of the first lap followed closely by Heidi Cooke. Heidi passed her once briefly and Denaye fought back with a move of her own but Heidi made it stick before lap one was recorded. As the MXForum audio announcer, “Bigwave Billy” said Denaye kept Heidi honest this moto keeping her in sight and doing a few jumps that only these top 2 were doing.

The Sand-del-lee track outside of Ottawa will be the home to the final round of the CMRC Women’s Motocross National Series this weekend. With a total of 50 points available and only 5 points separating Denaye from 2nd in the series the 2 final motos of the year will see her on her game. Her training with Todd of PerformX, support of father Roland and sponsors which include Schrader’s, Yamaha Canada, Yorkton Dodge, Kinsmen Club of Yorkton, Oakley, Parts Canada, Thor, Alpinestars, Pirelli, Renthal and SSS Suspension will all come into play on August 9th.

Schrader’s PerformX Yamaha team rider Shawn Maffenbeier of Swift Current, SK had a very strong weekend at Riverglade. With solid 11th place finishes in both motos of the premier MX1 450cc class he has moved into 15th place in the series. This weekend the 17 year old is hoping to break into the top 10 in a very talent laden field that includes the best riders from Canada plus numerous foreigners. Cole Siebler of Idaho will be back on his Schrader’s PerformX Yamaha YZ250F at Sand-del-lee this weekend after missing last weekend'ss event at Riverglade due to prior USA commitments. After finally getting on the podium of the MX2 250cc class at Gopher Dunes he will be expecting to be on the box again this weekend as well as the final round in one week at Walton, Ontario. For a full report on Shawn and Cole follow the Todd’s PerformX Racing press releases post on most Canadian MX sites.
