Team Toyota Yamaha Red Bull Blackfoot Fox Racing celebrated a decade of domination as team rider Colton Facciotti captured the coveted King of Walton title en route to his second consecutive MX-1 national championship at the Walton Trans-Can on August 16th, 2009. Facciotti’s victory gives the Blackfoot Racing organization a total of eight premier-class MX-1 Championships in ten years for a total of fourteen, and further cements the team’s status as Canada’s elite motocross team.

Facciotti wasn’t alone on the podium as his teammate Dusty Klatt put in a strong ride at the final round by taking the first moto win over a hard charging Colton and finishing second overall on the day and in the series. Klatt’s runner-up ride marks the fifth time the team has taken the top two spots in the MX-1 championship chase this year.

Blackfoot Motosports Vice-President and team owner Jason Mitchell was thrilled about his team’s 1-2 championship performance. “After 10 years and so many memorable championships this year’s was very special considering how the competition has stepped up their efforts and how our team responded. I cannot thank Colton and Dusty enough for their focus and commitment to our program as they definitely showed everyone this year that they were on another level. Behind every championship rider there is a championship team with sponsors and supporters that are second to none. This year was no different as each and every team member and our family of supporters contributed in achieving these great 1-2 results. I cannot say thank you enough for your efforts and support.”

“This was a great season for me,” Colton explains. “This championship definitely came a little bit harder than last year as Dusty and Paul Carpenter were pushing really hard all year and made me elevate my game a little bit and kept me honest. It feels good to come out of it with the number one plate in my hand and to know that all the hard work this year has paid off. I’d like to give a big thanks to my mechanic Jeff and the all the Blackfoot boys for their hard work, my fiancée Jocelyn, my parents and all my supporters and fans for backing me up this year.”

Dusty was also upbeat about his results. “We could say that this season was solid for sure. Other than the mud race at Ste. Thecle I was pretty consistent all year and I managed to get a couple of moto wins and one overall win as well. The team did an amazing job and I’d like to thank my mechanic Andrew for keeping my YZ450F running strong at every round. Obviously I’d like to have got a few more wins in there but Colt was riding really well and he was definitely the better rider this year. Overall I’m happy we finished up 1-2 and I’m going to come back swinging next season for sure.”

Walton also saw the team on the MX-2 podium as Kyle Beaton holeshot the first moto on his Yamaha YZ250F and led all the way to the checkered flag. A fall on the first lap in moto two dropped him back to outside the top thirty but Kyle fought his way through the pack to finish sixth in the session and third overall for the second straight race. Beaton’s teammate Aron Harvey put in a solid 4-4 performance at Walton and held onto third overall for the season.

“It felt good to get another moto win,” said Kyle of his day at Walton. “I would have liked to have gotten one more in that last moto but I didn’t get the start I wanted however I did end up 3rd overall so it was a good day. The season obviously didn’t go the way I wanted with the wrist however I’ve got some momentum going into the Montreal Supercross in October; hopefully I can win that one for the team.”

The Toyota Yamaha Red Bull Blackfoot Fox Racing team would like to thank all of our fantastic sponsors and supporters for standing by us during this season.
